Jason Day joins Tactix Gym Vancouver
January 19, 2010

Sometimes in life things just fall into place without rhyme or reason.  This is what happened when I moved to Vancouver a couple months ago.  I moved out without any solid plan for my training or career path, just on a whim that I needed a change of scenery.  On my second day in Vancouver I walked into Tactix Gym on Hornby Street and never turned back.  I am now the Head MMA Coach along with Dan Rizzuto at Tactix and we are building an army.

My good friend Bruno Capdeville was teaching the BJJ class and asked me to come check it out, I instantly grew attached to the facility and the team they have running it.  Laurian Lapadatu is the owner and manager of Tactix and is one of the most straight shooters in the game, we have his full support and he is eager to help us build and grow the Martial Arts program within Tactix.

Bruno is continuing to build the BJJ program as we work with him to build the MMA division.  I believe the facility and team we have in place is poised to be the new standard that gyms will look to in Vancouver.  At the core of our philosophy is family and team, without those two things in a fighters life he has nothing.

We are looking to be much more then just a place for fighters to train and workout...we are building a home for fighters at Tactix!  Check back for more updates and happenings often cause we will be busy!  You can LIKE us on facebook to be kept up to date at http://www.facebook.com/TactixMMA .    Check out the video for a little sneak peek at our facility. http://www.youtube.com/user/TactixMMA

"A convincing win over a tough opponent like Taylor may just be what the UFC is waiting to see from our number 4 ranked Canadian MW to invite him back to the ‘big show’.  Headlining a card with fireworks written all over it and with a solid team of trainers, coaches and sponsors behind him, a determined and focused Jason ‘Dooms’ Day is looking to do just that."

Sponsorship is the Secret to Success for MMA Athletes
August 17, 2009

Sponsorship turned Jason “Dooms” Day’s passion for fighting into a full-time job and has encouraged him to look beyond his own career to the future of mixed martial arts in Alberta.

Before securing major sponsorship, Day was like any fighter trying to make his way in MMA - he had a day job and trained in the evenings. When he had to travel to fight, he arranged time off work, mentally prepared for the fight as quickly as possible, and returned to “real life” on Monday.

“Everything changed for me once I was able to fight full time,” says Day. “My mental focus, my nutrition, the intensity I was able to train with. I was building houses before and it was difficult to put everything into training at night when I was so physically spent from my job.”
